The example: KOHL, a tattoo studio in Berlin

kohl.blankstudio.app/studio

KOHL is a tattoo studio in Berlin we invented to show what we build for this trade — every page above works. Black & grey · smoke you move, a neon you switch.

What a tattoo studio website has to do

Nobody books a tattoo on impulse. They look at an artist’s work for weeks, often months, then they go looking for the door: who does this style, are their books open, what does it roughly cost, how do I ask. Good tattoo studio website design is built for that last step. It shows the healed work, says plainly who is taking what, and turns a vague DM into a request with an idea, a placement, a size and a date in it.

Most tattoo shop websites stop at the portfolio. The work lives on Instagram, the booking lives in someone’s inbox, and the rules about deposits and age live nowhere. So the artist spends evenings answering the same four questions, the client never hears back, and the good request goes to the shop that answered first.

So our tattoo studio website design starts with the request. Every artist with their style, their work and whether their books are open, waitlisted or closed. Flash with a size and a price you can claim. A booking form that asks for a sketch, a body placement and a size, and a deposit taken only after the design is agreed. KOHL, above, is the example: a black-and-grey studio in Berlin-Neukölln with four artists, and a real neon sign in the window you can switch off.

  • 01

The work, healed, on the first screen

A stranger trusts healed work, not fresh shine. The homepage opens on the studio’s own look and puts whose books are open one tap from the top, so a returning client goes straight to their artist.

  • 02

    Every artist, with their books

Filter by style and the right artists step forward. Each one shows their pieces, the hours they took, how they healed, and whether their books are open, on a waitlist or closed until next year.

  • 03

    Flash you can claim

The flash sheet, live. Pick a design, set the size, choose where it goes and the price follows. Claimed pieces are stamped as taken, so nobody asks for one that is already gone.

  • 04

    A request, not a DM

Four short steps: the idea with a sketch, the placement on a body and a size, the artist and a consult slot, then contact details and an age check. The artist gets everything they need to quote in one message.

  • 05

    Deposits stated before anyone asks

The deposit, when it is taken and what happens if someone cancels, written on the request itself. On your site the deposit is collected after the design is agreed, through the system you already use.

  • 06

Aftercare that answers the 2 a.m. message

Day by day, what a healing tattoo looks like and what to do about it, so a client on day four knows the film coming off is normal. Plus hours, the address and what to bring.

The example, page by page

  1. 01Studio

Black and grey only: smoke that follows your finger, a neon sign you can switch off, a healed bodysuit, whose books are open today, and the next Friday the 13th flash day.

  2. 02Artists

Four artists and a guest, filtered by style. Pick one to see their healed work bleed in like ink, how long each piece took, and their rate, then request them or join their waitlist.

  3. 03Flash

Sheet 13, eight designs drawing themselves in fine line and dotwork. Choose a size and a placement and the price adjusts; claim one and it is held for you with a reference.

  4. 04Book

Idea, placement, artist, send. Draw on the sketch pad, tap the ribs on a body diagram, pick a consult day and time. A work order fills in beside you, with the hours and a rough cost.

  5. 05Aftercare & Visit

A healing slider from day 0 to day 30 shows what the skin looks like at each stage and what to do. Opening hours with today marked, the address to copy and what to bring.

Built to move

Requests that arrive ready to book

Built to turn the DM inbox into a booking calendar. A request arrives with the idea, a sketch, the placement, the size and the right artist already chosen, so a consult takes twenty minutes instead of twenty messages, and flash sells itself off the sheet.

How we build it

  1. Days 1–2

    The books

Artists, styles, healed photos, flash and your rules for deposits, age, consults and cancellations go into one place.

  2. Days 3–7

    The look

Design built around the studio’s own mark and work, with motion that feels like ink rather than a template.

  3. Days 8–13

    The chair

Requests routed to each artist, deposits and consult slots connected to the system you use, tested by your artists on their phones, then live.

What shapes your quote

  • How many artists, and guest spots
  • Flash you sell or hold online
  • Connecting the booking and deposit system you use
  • Gift vouchers and aftercare products

After launch, hosting, uptime, security and monthly reporting are an optional monthly plan, quoted with your build: month to month, never a contract term.

Questions we get asked

How much does tattoo studio website design cost?

We quote every site on its own, after you have seen your free design preview, and the quote is fixed and in writing before we start. It covers the design, every page, the request form wired to your inbox or booking system, and two rounds of revisions. It moves with the number of artists, whether you sell flash or vouchers online, and whether deposits are taken through the site. You see the exact figure before you commit.

How long does it take?

Ten to thirteen days from the first call to live. The first days gather your artists, work and rules. The middle is design. The last days connect requests and deposits, and your artists test it on their own phones before launch. The faster you send feedback, the sooner it is live.

Will it work with the booking tool we already use?

Yes. If you already take requests and deposits through a tool like Square, Fresha, Tattoodo, Porter or a simple form and inbox, we keep it, so your client history stays where it is. The site becomes the front of it. If you are starting fresh, we recommend a setup that fits how your artists actually book.

Can each artist open and close their own books?

Yes. Each artist’s status, open, waitlist or closed, is a switch you change yourself, along with their work, styles and guest dates. The request form follows it: a closed artist offers a waitlist instead of a consult.

Will it stop the “how much for a small one?” messages?

Most of them. A rough rate per artist, a size and placement on the request, and the deposit rule stated up front answer what most of those messages are really asking. What reaches the artist is a request they can quote, with a sketch and a placement in it.

We already have Instagram. Why a website?

Instagram shows the work but it is not yours, and it is a bad booking desk. A website is where a client checks whose books are open, reads your rules and sends a proper request, and it gives Google one clear page about your studio and your city.

Is KOHL a real tattoo studio?

No. KOHL is a tattoo studio we invented to show what we build. The artists, the address and the prices are made up, and the photographs are licensed stock. Every page works: request an artist, claim a flash piece, draw a sketch and send it. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Do you build for tattoo studios outside Germany?

Yes. We are a remote studio and build for tattoo studios and private artists in the US, the UK, Europe and Australia. You get a free design preview within 48 hours of getting in touch, before you pay anything.
